I have such wonderful memories of eating Fantales when I was a teenager - reading the blurbs on the wrappers about movie stars. I also just happen to love chocolate and caramel - so of course I had to try and dream this recipe up!! It took ages! Lots and lots of experimenting and testing but now I think I've finally'nailed' it! :)

YES, YES, YES,…….. This recipe is hands down, the best recipe! So easy!!!….. and it’s perfect! The “consistency” is exactly what I have been looking for. Your efforts in creating this recipe deserves a rewards. There’s no need to look any further…..
The only thing I did, was add three drops of caramel essance, to bring out more caramel flavour.
Thankyou so much.

Made these the other day for my mum to take to morning tea. I did not even get to try any but had rave reviews. I was told they were "just like Fantales" & the "first thing to go." Really easy to make too. Thank you for another fantastic recipe.

I made a double batch of these the other day (increased the cooking time by 20%) and used some chocolate moulds from KMart ($2 each). I didn't fill the moulds all the way, and topped it up with chocolate once set. After the chocolate was set, I popped them out and dipped them in chocolate. They are devine!!

Hi Leonie, can't wait to make this. Can I double the recipe with the same results?
Reply
thermofun says
Hi Barbara - I haven't as yet doubled it - however I am quite sure it would be safe to do. Just make sure you add 20% more cooking time. I'd love to hear how it goes. :)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO amazing! My only problem was cutting! Kind of tricky still! Yum Yum Yum and so easy to make. Cannot wait to make again - might have to use the leftover Condensed milk for another batch!
Reply
thermofun says
Pleased you enjoyed it Emily! Yes great way of using up leftover condensed milk too!! ;)
To help cutting - make sure your knife is really sharp and that the funtail has been out of the fridge for around 10 mins before cutting. :)Reply

Thanks for another dangerously delicious recipe. The chewy texture of this caramel is great! I'm wrapping some in Xmas cellophane for gift giving. Have added some peanuts to a batch and is soo good

Hi Leoni,
How long will these last? Thinking of maybe making them to put in some Christmas Hampers. Do they need to be stored in the fridge?
Reply
thermofun says
Yes Kirsten I would store them in the fridge. Sorry though I really don't know how long they would last - I've made about 4 batches recently and they don't last at all....... ;)
Reply
Kirsten says
Thank you very much, I might just try and make them a few days before Christmas :)

Nikki silk says
Can you use another oil instead of the coconut oil?
Many thanks, NikkiReply
thermofun says
Nikki you could use a little bit of butter. It just makes the chocolate runnier so it's easier to work with. :)
