The body measurements of 433 young Dorper rams participating in the Free State and Northern Cape veld-ram projects were correlated with their production performance, and the later maturing animals do not, therefore, necessarily perform better than the early maturing ones.

The aim of the present study was to analyze the live weight, body length, and chest perimeter in Blackhead Pleven lambs at an early age with a view to their future use as prognostic indicators of growth performance and found out that at birth and weaning the singletons had higher live weight and higher average daily weight gain in comparison with the twins.

Assessment of pelvic measurements and linear body measurement traits in Sussex heifers suggested that there is an association among PAs and biometric traits, and farmers might help farmers select animals with higher PH, BW, CD, and HH during breeding to lower dystocia incidents during parturition.

Results obtained in this study indicate that it is justified to observe the body mass as one of the main determinants of social rank, as well as the possibility of earlier maturation of dominant animals.

Data from 129 young Simmentaler bulls taken at the end of the Phase C growth tests, were used to study the relationship of mass and growth parameters on testes size and found pre-weaning gain appears to positively influence testicular growth more than post- weaning gain during a feedlot test.

Estimates of genetic parameters indicate a favorable genetic relationship between SC in Brahman bulls and AP in Brah man heifers under subtropical conditions and there was also evidence that selecting Brahman Bulls for HH would not adversely affect SC but would have some detrimental effect on AP in female progeny.
