What Do You Need to Make Strawberry Mojito Mocktail at Home

This strawberry and lime mojito mocktail contains just 4 basic ingredients:

  • Fresh ripe strawberries are best for this non-alcoholic co*cktail. They are rich on flavour and sweetness. Remove stems and wash them thoroughly before cooking.
  • Fresh mint leaves give the drink with the typical aroma and flavour. Make sure you break them well when mixing (muddling) with the strawberries, so that they release maximum flavour.
  • Fresh lime for extra tangy taste. Use juice for flavour and slices to garnish.
  • Good quality diet lemonade adds a good portion lemony notes and some extra fizz. Use sugar-free option for a less-calorific refreshment. Chill it in the fridge before mixing with the strawberry and mint paste.
  • Ice is optional in this recipe. If you like, fill each glass with ⅓ of ice before pouring the mocktail. Alternatively, fill ⅓ of the jug with ice.

Don’t have any fresh strawberries on hand or you want to enjoy this mocktail outside of the summer season? You can swap fresh strawberries for a good quality strawberry conserve!

Lime juice in a bottle will taste just as well as freshly squeezed lime juice.

Missing sugar-free lemonade? Soda water will work in this recipe as well. Just double up on the lime juice.

No mint? Fresh basil leaves will do just fine in this no-alcohol strawberry mojito!

Find details of all swaps in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Good news, you don’t need any special equipment to make this co*cktail!

A jug or a glass, muddler (or a wooden spoon) will serve you perfectly well, whilst kitchen knife and chopping board are essential items in every kitchen.

How to Make Strawberry Mojito Without Alcohol?

  2. Add lime juice and diet lemonade.
  3. Stir, serve with sliced lime and decorate with mint leaves.
  4. Enjoy it with some ice!

Here are some ideas on how to make this mocktail with various flavours:

  • Raspberry mojito – use raspberries instead of strawberries, they pair nicely with lime and mint too!
  • Watermelon – cut it into small dices and remove any seeds before adding to a glass.
  • Make it alcoholic - simply add 25-50cl (single or double shot) of white rum, vodka, gin or tequila per serving.

Top Tips

  1. Just like many other herbs or produce, mint leaves can turn brown if exposed to oxygen for a long period of time. Always add lime juice to help stop this process, especially if making this drink in advance. Adding fresh mint leaves and some fresh lime just before serving means the drink will look very fresh and appetizing.
  2. Remember to add diet lemonade just before serving, otherwise, all of the bubbles will disappear, and the drink will be completely flat. To serve this drink extra cold, keep the sugar-free lemonade in the fridge before serving.

Storage Instructions

This mocktail is intended for immediate consumption, however, parts of it can be made ahead.

If you’re making this no-alcohol strawberry mojito in advance, muddle (squash) the berries with mint, and add lime juice. Keep this mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Add diet lemonade and fresh lime and mint leaves just before serving.

This mixture also freezes well. Store it in the freezer until the time when you are ready to serve it. Leave it to defrost (soften) just 10 minutes before serving, add lemonade, fresh lime and mint.

Freezing strawberry mojito can save you loads of time and stress on the day of your party! AND you can also treat yourself with a little bit of this summery drink any time of the year!

Keep it in the freezer for up to 2 months.

Does strawberry mojito contain alcohol?

All co*cktails called ‘mojito’ normally contain alcohol (usually white rum), however, this recipe is an alcohol-free version of a strawberry, lime and lemonade drink (mocktail).

What does a virgin mojito contain?

This mojito mocktail contains only strawberries, lime juice and fresh lime, mint, lemonade and ice, which all make it very refreshing and tasty.

How do you muddle strawberries?

Place the strawberries at the bottom of a glass or a jug, add mint leaves and press them with a muddler or the narrow end of a wooden spoon. Press down and twist slightly so that the essential oils and juices release into the glass (jug). Do this for a few times until the fruit and mint mix resembles a mash.

What does a strawberry mojito taste like?

Strawberry mojito has a sweet taste thanks to the strawberries, yet it’s also pleasantly sharp (tart) and tangy thanks to the lime juice and mint. You can adjust the flavour to your liking by adding less/more lime juice.

What is the difference between strawberry daiquiri and mojito?

Whilst both co*cktails contain white rum, mojito is a co*cktail containing ice cubes or slightly crushed ice, which results in a harsher texture – where you can even see layers if the contents are not mixed in a glass. Mojito is often served with mint. Daiquiri, on the other hand, is a blended mix of fruit, alcohol, and ice with a very smooth and thick texture. It doesn’t usually contain mint.
